Principal's Message

Dear Loyolites,

‘Star of the South' is the title bestowed on Loyola College recently by one of the Ranking Agencies of Higher Educational Institutions. Indeed, we are proud of the star status. At the same time, our dream is to ensure that this star of the East is visible to the whole World as our motto says "Let Your Light Shine".

Interestingly, we live in an era when the quality of higher educational institutions is measured in terms of Ranking and Accreditation by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and other Ranking Agencies and status such as College with Potential for Excellence (CPE), College of Excellence (CE) and Institutes of Eminence (IE). Right now, we are on the threshold of the fourth cycle of Accreditation and Assessment. Hence, we need to march towards ‘magis' - the greater...the higher, very much in the footsteps of St Ignatius of Loyola, our patron saint.

I was in Loyola for 14 years and after a gap of 6 years, I have come back. I see a lot of constructive changes. As Principal of the college, I would like our attention to be focused more on the students and their wellbeing. They are the harbingers of Loyola. I want their stay at Loyola to be memorable and enriching. I want them to strive to reach the unreachable star – the dream with which they enter this precinct of knowledge. Therefore, I wish to concentrate on learning outcomes, student diversity and student mobility.

In this context, let me happily share that efforts are on to construct an additional floor on MCA Block, Visual Communication Block and LIFE building. Another proposal to construct a multi-storey building to house the hostel students has also been processed. Thus, Loyola is ever growing and ever expanding both academically and structurally. Starting B.Com (Honours), the much coveted programme with the intake of 40 students during the academic year 2018 -19 and Pondicherry University and Loyola College Twinning programme scaling greater heights in admission are testimony to this truth.

Whatever we do, Quality is our hallmark. Preparing students to be men and women for and with others is our purpose.

Let us march towards LOYOLA 100.
